RAP module

John,

I tried the RAP module you gave me and it does not appear to be working either. I have tried the programming sequence from the 98 and 00 explorers as well as the 00 Ranger and cannot get it to respond. I also went thru the diagnosis and testing from the CD and all tests I can perform (those that don't require a scantool) have passed.

If anyone has any suggestions for me, please let me know as I'm at a loss for how to fix this.

Wow, Tom, guess I owe you a lunch!

Are you sure it's getting all the power it's supposed to?

According to the pinpoint tests, I have power from all circuits. The only thing I can't do are check DTCs which I need a scantool to do. I'll hafta see if the autoparts stores around here rent them.

Okay. Both key on and key off power, yes? Measured with a voltmeter? Not doubting you -- I just haven't seen the pinpoint tests yet. The fault with both units suggests a wiring problem, and power is a very likely culprit.

When I get a chance, Tom, I'll review the wiring

I verified both constant 12v and switched 12v as well as ground. In fact, I tested the connectivity from the RAP to the locks and to the diag port. Just simple continuity and resistance tests, but the thing passed. I don't know how likely it is that two modules are both bad tho.
