buggman special: Mustang Dome Light WITH my plug-in LED's (ky)

Yup,
I finally got my hands on a couple 'Stang dome lights & I just got in a set of my plug-in led's so I installed 'em in this bad boy.

The dome light has been painted inside & out with Satin Black, but it still has a little bit of shine to it.
I've sanded & buffed the lens where it looks as good as new... and of course, installed a set of my super bright led bulbs.

I didn't get a chance to get any night time pics of it lit up, but this sucker is BRIGHT!

PRICING: $28.00 plus priority shipping & insurance
PM me your zip code for a closer quote, but I'm guessing about $6-$8 depending on your location.

This is the ONLY black one I have, but I do have a couple of light gray ones that still need to be cleaned/buffed & have my led's installed in them. Hopefully my led's will be here before too long.

UPDATE:

Sorry, no pics at this moment but I'll try to get some up tonight.

I've got a couple of the famous Mustang Dome lights (light gray) that I'm installing a set of my Plug-in led panels in.

I've got TWO dome lights right now that I'll be doing this to & possibly more down the road.

I'll be totally disassembling the dome lights to clean them & make sure the contacts/switches are in working order. The lenses will be sanded & buffed to a like new shine, but there MAY be some imperfections in the lenses themselves... I'll do my best to install the best looking lenses I have.
And most importantly, I'll be installing a set of 3 of my plug-in led's v3.0 (same as v2.0 but they're super white)

PRICING:
$35.00 FREE Priority Shipping & Insurance (small flat rate box or flat rate padded envelope) within the USA

I might have to end up getting one of the gray ones from you. I had to take out all the interior in my truck today, and I broke the dome light trying to take it off. I've currently got a dome light like this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-02...#ht_989wt_1165

How easy/hard would it be to go with the Mustang one?

I think you'll be able to swap them out without any mods at all.
The Stang domes have 3 screws for ground, constant power & switched power & so does my 96 OEM dome light (that one looks just like mine) so you shouldn't even have to run the extra constant power wire.

I've got 2 that are light gray & 1 that is dark gray (I was going to install that one in my truck, but it's too much work for me to re-do all the custom wiring for my leds to mess with it)

Just let me know if you need one

Ah ok, cool, mine had 3 screws. These come with the entire assembly, right? The part that I broke was the actual assembly where the bulbs go, so I wouldn't be able to reuse it if these don't come with that part.

Awesome! I'm going to assume that since mine has 3 screws, these are just 'bolt in' ready?

I believe so.

I've never installed one myself, but tons of guys here & at FRF are running them.

If you have this style of dome light, you'll probably need to run a constant power wire...

If you have this style dome light (mine) you should be good to go...

How hard is the Mustang dome light to take off/apart? I know my Ranger one had a few places where it clips into the bulb assembly and was near impossible to un-clip apart.

It's not bad at all.
There are 4 tabs on the lens that hold the lens onto the body. A small flat screwdriver & a little persuasion will take care of it no problem.
Mounting it to the headliner is as simple as 3 screws.

You can sort-of see 2 clips here towards the bottom:

Yup,
As of this moment, I've got the black one (pending payment), two light gray ones & a darker gray one.

One of the lenses has 2 of the tabs broken off, but a small piece of double sided foam tape strategically placed should take care of that issue. That will be installed on the very last dome light unless somebody doesn't care that they'll have to put a little piece of foam tape in the dome light.

Also, one of the lenses has some hairline cracks (small spiderwebs) on the inside of the lens that are only visible when the lights are on.

The lenses aren't 100% up to my normal high standards, but I didn't get to pick them myself. I did, however sand & buff the outside of the lenses where they are as smooth as glass. I also disassembled all of them to clean 'em up as best as I could & make sure the switch contacts were working properly.

So far, I have enough of my plug-in led's for 3 of the dome lights.

It's a worthy mod. I just bought the bulbs and installed them in a Mustang dome light (in a Mustang at that!). The pic doesn't do the most justice, but it's BRIGHT in person!

Yeah and for the hell of it, there are the 7x bulbs in the license of the Mustang too. I also have a set of these in the Ranger, but no pics of it yet.
