Little update:

Here are a few pics of my tailgate, where the 4.5" emblem was this afternoon...

Size: 62.3 KB

The 3 holes are the exact same size as the 4.75" Ford ovals used on the grille.

I WAS going to put a 4.75" Ford oval on the tailgate, but since I'm out (for the moment) and I have a few 4.5" ovals ready to paint, I'm going to go back with the same size to match my grill oval.

While I'm at it, here's a few pics of my grille emblem...

Got my oval emblem order today, I ordered 20x 4.75" wide ovals but only got 3, the rest are 4.5" wide, no luck on the 7" or 9" emblems either.

Still looking for more 4.75" wide, 7" & 9" wide ovals to mod though.

UPDATE:

I have 2 pcs of 4.75" wide emblems with all the Ford script/oval chrome in tact ready to paint the background any color I have.

Those are the last of my 4.75" ovals for now... still searching for more though.

I have a BUNCH of 4.5" wide ovals in various stages, some ready to paint 2 colors, some disassembled waiting to be sanded, some still together setting in a box.

The 4.5" wide ovals will work in place of the 4.75" emblems in most cases & they're not that much smaller.

They turned out pretty good, but I don't know if I'm going to do very many more of them with painted bases.

They're a PITA to get looking good.

Those are Black/Smoke Gray w/Black bases. Sometimes the pics look off white.

Stay tuned....

I've got a Devil-ish set I'm working on now.

Also, I'm running a little low on ovals ready to mod right now. I'm out of 4 3/4" wide ovals & I just have two 4 1/2" wide ovals ready for paint. One is ready for 2 colors & the other has ALL original chrome Ford script & oval, ready for the background to be painted.
I have a few more 4 1/2" ovals in various stages of disassembly/sanding/prep that should be ready for paint in a week or so.

You junkyard hunters are gonna have to hook me up

Oh man..sorry they were such a pain! They do look good, and I can't wait to see them on my truck!

Don't go pulling the plug on the painted surrounds quite yet...I am going to need at least two more that match these in the near future!

Hopefully, we can work out some arrangment to make me a few more just like these! I will be in touch soon!

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Thanks to logan03CO for this idea...

I made a slight modification to your pic.

This should help you guys when describing the color combinations you want on your custom ovals.

Here's a few pics of some I'm just about finished with for a member over at FRF...

You must be 18 or over to view these images.

... cause they're so sexy!

I had these working the same time as the others with black bases. Pshew! They're a lot of work.

Icon4 UPDATE

Just found TWO 4 3/4" wide ovals that are ready to paint 2 colors.

Working on more 4 1/2" wide ovals, hopefully they'll be ready for paint in 3 or 4 days.

Still on the hunt for 5 3/4", 7" & 9" Ford ovals that I can mod... as soon as I find some of the bigger sizes, I'll update here to let everyone know.

I would message everybody that wanted the larger ovals individually, but it would take me all day

Icon4 UPDATE

Update for 9-13-10

I've been out in the garage for the last 4 days working on ovals...

Here's what I have in stock today:

4 1/2" wide ovals = 12pcs in various stages of disassembly/sanding

4 3/4" wide ovals = 5pcs in various stages of disassembly/sanding

5 3/4" wide ovals = 1pc sanded ready for paint (I know this one won't last long)

7" wide ovals = 2pcs sanded ready for paint

- - - -
Updates to pricing:

4 1/2" & 4 3/4" wide ovals, 2 colors w/chrome bases $23.00 each shipped US

4 1/2" & 4 3/4" wide ovals, 2 colors w/pained bases $28.00 each shipped US

5 3/4" wide ovals, 2 colors w/chrome bases $33.00 each shipped US

5 3/4" wide ovals, 2 colors w/painted bases $38.00 each shipped US

7" wide ovals, 2 colors w/chrome bases $40.00 each shipped US

7" wide ovals, 2 colors w/painted bases $45.00 each shipped US

- - - -

The small oval prices are basically the same, but the new larger ovals took me over 6 months to find & some of them broke during disassembly :(

For an extra $10 per oval, I will do my super-secret mod to the bases in which I remove ALL of the original chrome down to the base plastic before painting with several coats of paint.

This adds about 6 more hours to the modding process, but I feel confident that the paint will be less likely to chip or peel from the bare plastic than it will from the original chrome finish.

Looks like those painted bases might be becoming popular! After my 3rd & 4th emblems..I'll let some others get in line before I put you to work on a few more!

To the people on the fence: Pull the trigger...he does great work!!

I'm very happy with the buggman ovals.

Now I just need one for my airbag:

Roughly 57.5mm wide at the furthest reaches.

Bumpity bump with a little update...

I've got several 4.5" & 4.75" ovals in various stages of disassembly as well as a small amount of 5 3/4" and 7" wide ovals.

I'm a little behind in prepping ovals due to working on some led projects, but I hope to get back to work on ovals pretty soon.
