need help with swapping seat belt pretensioners to explorer seats

I did a search and am still kinda lost as to what to do. My 2002 Ranger XLT has the seat belt pretensioners on it. I have read a couple of the write ups on this site. I can't figure out how I am supposed to mount the ranger seatbelt on the explorer. I see the hole that I am supposed to mount it to but I cannot figure out how to get it on there the right way. Am I supossed to mount it on the inside or outside of the track? If I do it on the outside its gonna look bad and stick out. Any ideas?

outside of frame.....takes approx a T45? T40? i dont remember exactly. But you'll just need to be smart and think about it....the pretentioners have little tabs that are folded over that locate into holes on the frame. The only go on one way.

I ended up cutting the tab off because there wasn't a spot on it on the explorer frame. I basically did it like your picture looks. I guess it should look fine when I get a center console. BTW is that an explorer seat or a ranger seat because i needed to use a smaller bolt for the explorer frame. These seats are probably 97-98 exp seats going by the date code on them.

ok I finished it up. Everything seems fine. My next question is what do I do for the shifter because I have a 5spd. I've read all I need to do is cut the center out and make a boot? Is that true?

Do you happen to have a picture of the Expo seat with the pretensioner on it?
We are doing a something similar....have a 01 Rngr crew cab two door that we came back with electric seats from a 96 Expo...I'm pretty familiar with how to take it off, but do we need a special tool to take it off besides the TORX...the warning label on the pretensioner mentions that we should consult the Ford shop manual on how to take it off... I just don't want to blow my fingers off or anything...after we take it off, I'm good.

Thanks!!!

If there's no power, it won't pop on ya. All pre-tensioners are VERY similar in the mounting department. Tooling is torx bit. Only difficult area is gaining enough access to actually use the torx. May require some detaching of the seat upholstery.

Most things that can be considered "dangerous" have warnings to consult the dealer.... Take Laz-E-Boy chairs or even pillows for example, "illegal to remove" blahblahblah crap.

What do you have a full length console ?

Just thinking find a shorty center console, maybe one in black, and use it instead.

im trying to put mine in and im having troubles can anyone just post a picture with the pretensions installed on the seats cause i dont understand.. I dont get why no one can take a picture of the one difficult thing about putting the seats in .. everyone just to explain it but it would be way easier with one picture of the explorer seats with the 60/40 pretensioners installed so we can see exactly how it was done
