2003 Ranger Edge extracab seat bottom.

I have a 2003 Renger Edge extra cab with the 60/40 seats. The driver's seat bottom cushion is worn.

Is there a way to fix this without 150.00 bucks at an upholstery shop? Can you just add foam? How easy is it to remove the cushion material from the seat bottom?

On a side note what year explorer buckets are a direct bolt in?

I looked into this when my seat was all jacked up. It turned out that one of the support rods on the back of the seat had broken, making me feel like I'm sunken into the seat and a bar in my back. I ended up finding a good set for 60 bucks at a scrap yard just before it was to go into the shredder...a cash for clunkers thing.

you can take the cloth off the top piece by folding the seat forward. there are two vinyl pieces that clasp together. Unclasp them and you can pull the top piece up. For the bottom, there should be similar vinyl clasps that hook onto the seat frame. I have looked into re-foaming and it can be purchased relatively cheap as well (cheaper that new seats). Google for automotive seat foam.

Ya it would probably be cheaper to find a set of jy seats than try and fix your seat.

Wow how about that for dyslexia, huh. YJ-JY, good thing I can laugh at myself.

I have heard there is an issue with the female seat belt recepticle on the explorer seats. What has to be done to the seat belt to accomodate the Explorer seats?

All you gotta do is swap over the seat belt pretensioners from the seats you have now to the seats you get.
