Plastic Retainers - Are there Replacements ?

These guys, the panel holders:

Name: IMG_0022.jpg
Views: 867
Size: 35.0 KB

Worst thing Ford ever did was to use these things, what ever they are called.
Has anyone found a replacement for them of do I have to go to Ford ?

ltr and Thanks,

Actually the worst thing Ford ever did was the design of the power steering pump on the 4.6. But go to Autozone and look in the Help aisle and they'll be there.

Don’t know this one but Ford may not have asked for money from the Government but they have had some f-ups.

I did and thought this is going to be a piece of cake, some plugs were but some were a *****.
The tool work great on most of the plastic plugs.
Thanks for the idea.
Auto Zone had two type, a straight one and a bent one, i got the bent one but think a straight one would be good to have too.

AutoZone did not have any Gray colored clips just black and the Clerk said that is all they carry.
On to ford tomorrow.

Thanks for the input. I will report back the p/n and cost as soon as I know.

Just got 50 on-line for $15.00…

Ford wanted and I $hit you not, $7.49 each, EACH that is… WTF…

I ordered from ClipsAndFasteners.com - Automotive Retainers,Clips and Fasteners.

They were exactly the same as Ford, I was worried about the color but they turned out OK.

# A18277 - Ford Roof Trim Panel & Garnish Retainer-Gray - 2 x $7.59 = $15.18.

ClipsAndFasteners.com - Automotive Retainers,Clips and Fasteners

Through I found out the Shop needed the VIN of the Vehicle the clips are going in.
Otherwise buy at will.

These came in Dark Gray but the guy I ordered from didn’t know up front what color they would be.

ClipsAndFasteners.com SUCKS!

Attention owners of TAN/BEIGE INTERIOR Rangers!

In an effort so spare you some time, skip the fruitless website searches, go to your dealer and pay the $7.50 per retainer (unless your time is worth less than $7.50 an hour..) I've wasted two hours searching the various links to fastener websites and found, for whatever reason, tan fasteners are extraordinarily unpopular to manufacture and there are no tan/beige equavlents to Scrambler's black-colored retainers. ClipsAndFasteners.com has no useful filters, so you can spend hours poring over the hundreds and hundreds of retainers they stock. It's a great website if you need black retainers, which is also the same case for The Fastener Warehouse. Off to the dealer tomorrow!

it may be worth while to pick up a can of SEM dye to match them to your interior.

agreed 112%. Sure it's a $8 can of paint, but buying too many fasteners online, spraying the ones you need, and selling the rest to a member here sounds awesome for all parties!!

Which reminds me...I need some fasteners. lol.

Maybe if you call ClipsAndFasteners.com with your VIN they may be able to help, can’t hurt to try.

I encountered these trim clips when attempting to remove my headliner a little while ago. They did not want to pop out easily, so the question is...is there a method of removal or a special tool to use that will decrease the likelihood of damage? I would like to be able to reuse these things.
Thanks
