Airbag swap 98-00 to 01-03

I have done some searching on here and google, but I can't find a definite answer. I want to swap the 98-00 airbag/airbag cover that doesn't have the ford logo on it with the one from 01-03 that does have the ford logo on the cover. I know it will fit with no problems but I have read that the airbag light stays on due to wiring. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix that? Any help is appreciated

airbag wiring isn't something to mess around with or take lightly. i know it will physically fit, but unsure if they both use the same resistance, etc. i think the plugs may even be different.

Could always go the cheaper route of finding a deployed bag truck.......and taking the logo itself off and apply to your existing one. Would certainly be alot cheaper if you don't already need a bag.

I actually kept my bag cover with the logo on it just in case I ever got around to another older project truck.

good luck getting those emblems back on. they have 4 prongs that go through the cover and need to be bent over. i took mine off when i wrapped my bag in suede. had a hell of a time getting it back on. bent the one up pretty bad. ended up getting a couple new ones off ebay.

I can also vouch for it being plug and play. I have one in my '99.

I'm not talking of disassembling the bag cover to install an emblem. For install, I'm talking remove prongs. Use thin thickness 3M double stick tape or even a couple dabs of super glue on the corners to keep it all flush. K.I.S.S. is how I work. lol.

Deals like that are very few and very far between. I wanna say I paid $40 at my local new-car junkyard. And that was a good guy price from my hook-up.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys. I appreciate everyones input. Im just afraid to spend $50 on one (thats how much a jy near me is wanting) and have my airbag not work afterwards haha

Really? You had no issues with the airbag light coming on or anything?

I thought about that but I want it to look stock. The stock ones have a little indentation for the logo to sit in. Good idea though, I did think about that lol.

Did the wiring/plug change anywhere from the 01-03 airbag? For example, will an 01 airbag be plug n play and an 03 airbag have different wiring or was it all the same 01-03? Hope I wasn't too confusing lol

The year wont matter. any 01-03 bag will work, out of any trim level whether it is a 2wd fleet truck to a 4x4 offroad package. same plug in the back on them all just like the one in your truck.

I got mine from an '01. It's plug and play. No check lights or anything. Got mine for $40 from the junkyard.
