Seat track/recliner problem
I have a 2003 B2300 ext cab 2 door that I have had about 1 month. The truck was used as a work truck and it was really dirty inside. The seat movement (forward back and reclining) is very stiff and almost doesn't work. I have finally gotten the forward back going ok on the driver side and the passenger side is ok for the first half of the travel, but toward the front it still gets hard to move. I have taken the seat out and lubed and cleaned as best I can with very little results. But The recling mechanism is really bad. I have freed it up so that I can recline the seat, but the spring won't return the seatback toward the front, so it is very hard to move it up while in the truck because you have to pull the seat back forward. Anyway, I have narrowed it down to the what the manual calls the "recliners". They are these two sliding shafts under the seat outboard of the tracks on both sides. One has a spring and the other one doesn't. I have tried different lubes (silicone, dry teflon, white lithium grease) and nothing seems to help that much. The dry teflon helps the best. Does anyone have any idea how I can free up or lube this recliner to get it working like it should?
