Dreaded Door ajar, but with a twist
Well, when I bought my truck the owner said that sometimes the door dings. It didn't do it at the time I drove it so I didn't think much about it. The other day when I was leaving, the door started dinging....did it for about 5 minutes. The next time, about 15 minutes.
I've searched, and done the wd40 and lithium grease trick. I might add I got some weird looks while at advance shutting/opening my door repeatedly.
The thing is, sometimes it dings for a few minutes....which I believe indicates the driver side. Then sometimes, only the door ajar light is on...which from what I read indicates it's the passenger side. Then sometimes it's nothing. All in the same day. Are both switches bad/stuck? Or is it something else besides the switches.

Mine is a 2 door extended cab. I read a ton of threads, which it seems like most people either had the dinging, or only the light. I don't recall seeing where anybody had both, which is what had me scratching my head.
I don't care to take the switches out and replace them, but I just wonder if they were the problem wouldn't it do the same thing every time?

you can buy new switches or just clean the ones you have, i cleaned mine over a year ago and they still work fine.

After the switches, the door dinger circuits go directly into the board that houses the actual dinger. The only other circuit interruption is the fuse. Check to make sure your door dinger (maybe power-door lock circuit) fuse isn't loose or old. If it looks okay, it's probably time to pull the switches out and clean them meticulously...

Ok, so all I have is the "door ajar" light all the time. The dinger stops when I shut the driver door so that should mean that the driver side door switch is ok and it's the passenger door causing the door ajar light, right?
