Armrest/Steering Wheel problems

99' mazda b4000

alright well I broke the right side of my cruise control buttons about a year ago and just would hold it whenever I used it, just the cable is hanging there.

I wanted to know how if possible how to remove the front part of my steering wheel. I think i may not be able to, seeing as it has an airbag in it. Just wanted to try and fix the plastic that I snapped off.

Second. My armrest is broken into pieces, well the plastic of it. I wanted to do the 60/40 mod as listed but I was a little worried about doing it. I just wanted to know where exactly to cut. My armrest is held together with a bungee.

For the armrest I riveted an aluminum plate between the plastic and foam, have not had a problem since.

I believe you broke the "mounting ears" on the cruise control pod. to replace the pod, you need to remove the air bag.

1. disconnect negative and positive terminals on battery. I like to pull the battery out and have it sitting next to the truck.

2. On the sides of the steering wheel, there's two plastic covers(one on each side) that cover the air bag mounting bolts. You need to remove those covers. I used a box cutter to pry them loose. Small flathead screwdriver will work as well.

3. Unscrew the air bag mounting bolts using 8mm socket.

4. Carefully pull up on the air bag, and disconnect the wiring on the back side. I like to do this with my body outside the vehicle, reaching in doing the work.

5. Set air bag in safe place where it can't be disturbed.

6. Unscrew 2 phillips head screws on the pod.

7. Pull the wiring off the pod. Can sometimes be a pain.

8. Install is reverse of disassembly.

John Grigg's aka N3ELZ has a GREAT cardomain.....complete with cruise control pod LED mod...and cruise pod removal....

The center console or armrest is broken like that on most trucks with them, mine to was held together with a bungee. I just built my own lid out of scraps.

I have some black fabric covering this now, and yes I know I went overboard on the stables. lol

If you want to do the 40/40 mod then this should help.

Dude, I got some extras lying around. I can send them to you, you just gotta pay for the shipping. You'll have to put your own internals though, I had to buy new pair cause I screwed up doing the led mod and got some new ones to retry the mod. Got it right second time around but now I have left over pods that I didn't know what to do with. Let me know if you want them, and it may take a little while cause I just started a new job and have to stay 100 miles away from home during the week.

^^NICE!

Yea...that's all you need....is the outer housings....the flanges are built into the housing. The housings split in half, so take a look at N3ELZ's cardomain for info on how to split them apart.

Glad I can help. I'm actually going to redo my cruise pods.....2 LED's in each, but 1 in each burnt out...well....solder seperated.
