hey bro, i have a dome light, and i wanna do the mod! but, i have an 04

can you tell me where to run the wire from, and where it hooks up on the dome light? i so wanna get this mod in the truck.... been sitting around for quite a while... thanks man

He wants to replace the stock POS dome with a new dome like a mustang or explorer dome light.

which dome lamp u got Thomas? Cuz I got one of a pre 04 XLT and it wont bolt up :(

The early 2004 manual shows wiring for the map lights but I have heard that it is not there on the 04~05s.

The dome light is on the black/light blue. Ground screws directly to the ceiling. That should be the same as your original dome light. The map lights should be on light green/orange which you will need to run. Go to the dimming module and tee a wire off of the LG/OR and run it up to the light. You will need to get creative but you should be able to add a ring terminal and attach it to the unused maplight screw.

All of this assumes that your new dome/map assembly will fit your headliner contour and that the mounting screws line up.

yes, everything lines up and fits perfect. where is the green/orange wire that i need to tap into? you mean the LG/OR behind the dimmer rocker by the headlight switch on the dash?

if i remembe right, it didnt show where the new wires were ran... or where tapped. i might be wrong thou, cause after all, i am human. i think

depending on when you got your truck it may already be wired. . . . i have an '04 made in sept '03 and it had all the wires up their already

my 2004 was made the week of December 8th and it has the new harness
DanNEBTD is your fuse box located in the passanger side kick plate?

yes sir it is . . . some other member on genedge had the old style also, he has since sold his truck and moved on.
