Radio Bezel paintagain -sry search didnt help

ok, i tried searchin for tips on how to paint the radio bezel in our rangers. what i found was a million different versions of what to do. so ill just ask if my idea will work.

I went to the store to buy paint and had no idea what to get. I did see Duplicolor makes an adhesion anhancer that is also the primer. would that work instead of rubbing on the enhancer priming with normal primer? it was clear and said adhesion enhancer/primer on it. also would the factory matched paint in the small cans work? id rather use the matched colors cuz uh, they r matched? or do i need something else? laquer, enamel etc..?

so basically, i would like to do this
1. clean parts
2. Duplicolor adhesion enhancer/primer
3. duplicolor oxford white paint
4. duplicolor clear top coat

will it work?

also will i have to worry about cracking /peeling doin it this way, any way?

oh 1 more thing, the radio bezel feels rubbery, do i have to sand it? what grits should i use? to take off the rubber? to smooth the surface?

Just did this hope it helps,

1. get rid of all of that rubber stuff they coat it with.
2. Adhesion promoter helps
3. I painted mine with the same paint I sprayed thetruck with but spray cans will do
4. Oh yeah make sure u take the ac vents out

I used the adhesive enhancer from duplicolor and on top of that i used the Universal gloss black from duplicolor and on top of that i used duplicolor clearcoat. When you sand it down use a fairly course paper(120) to get the rubber coating off first, then to smooth it out and get rid of any scratches made by the course paper use about a 320 grit. After that use some wet sand paper about 800 grit to finish it off. Take your time sanding and make sure you get it as smooth as possible so you get a real good shine when your done. I did mine about a month ago and havent had any scraches or cracking yet

jim - yeah... your original plan is perfect. if you take your time, the results will be great;

Here are the steps i took for the color matched pieces:

*I removed the rubber on the bezel with goop-off, then proceeded to sand.
Sand the part down with 320 grit, then 400, then 600 wet sand, to a smooth finish
A coat or two of adhesion promoter
Several LIGHT coats of Duplicolor color matched spray
Let dry for a MINIMUM of 1 hour
1 very light coat of Duplicolor clear coat. let it get tacky for a minute or two, then hit it with a second HEAVY coat, and a third if needed.

I might be weird but i tried something different with mine. If you take out the light cover for the 4 wheel drive light you can just soak it in brake fluid overnight and then in the morning all the bad stuff will be off and you can just clean it and you're good to go. Little bit less effort that way.

ERICG - i wish idda thought a that, gettin the rubber off sucked. anyway i used the duplicolor adhesive promoting clear primer, then i used two 5oz cans of duplicolor oxford white factory match paint, then 1 can of 5oz duplicolor clear coat (could have used 2 but i didnt wanna go back and get another can so i finished the last corner with regular clearcoat i found in my garage) let it dry and reinstalled everything. putin my head unit back in and plugin in all the wires sucked and i scratched it on the inside where the head unit goes, but i got out the little tiny touch up paint and fixed it, now u cant tell.

Results-looks great, ill get pics posted asap, ill put them in my cardomain, unless some1 can host them on this post, so lemme kno
