I tried doing the LED foglight mod and got 50% success. The blown foglight emblem lights up blue, but now my indicator doesn't work.. I used this picture from JP7

And didn't get it to work. I used a red 5mm led inside and sanded it down to fit. But the spring doesn't exactly work inside so maybe that's my problem. And I thought that you wanted the negative side of the LED to be wired to the resistor?

 

How do u get that out to work on?

is the arrow pointing towards the top little 3mm led or the main 5 mm?

 

the big hole above the 3mm led in the pic is for the 5mm dash illumination led. IDK Cam...I did three of them and all work perfectly and have lasted about a year w/o any issues.

I'd guess it's an assembly issue.

I did too. I think one of them I used a resister that came with the 3mm red led's.

 

Does it matter if I have the other foglight bulb working or not? I mean I had to take the working one all the way out to redo the inside one.

 

no it doesnt matter

 

It doesn't matter which side you wire the resister onto the LED, just that the polarity is right. I think if you're using the stock resister, you have to have the positive up to it (so that the polarity is right).

 

FYI, the green led will only light if the fogs are on. So if the bulbs are blown or the fuses are. It wont light up.

As far as the resistor it really doesn't matter what side its on.

 

There hasn't been much said on the forums involving changing out that fog 'on' indicator lamp....swapping it. There's plenty around about swapping to LED in the illumination area.

I found my pic and I used the stock resister with the 5000mch 3mm Led. You I think your issue is bad soldering or inproper reassembly of the switch.

And on the little pin on the other piece right? Mine just doesn't click anymore. Maybe mine doesn't work because I trimmed some stuff off to fit the 5mm.

idr exactly... i think theres a pin that locates the spring. then the two pieces slide together.


post pics of your cameron....maybe you soldered the wrong ends??

 

FWIW, I lost the stock spring. Ended up using a clicker type pen spring. When its really cold it doesn't want to engage the switch.

 

Sweeeeet. Got it looking good now. I should have used a 360 degree bulb insteadof this one for the logo. Check it..
