couple issues in 97 xtra cab

history: just bought a 97 extra cab 5spd to use as my DD .

Problems:

1. my wife who is a "little" short needs the seat to move a little closer for the clutch. I did a little searching and didnt find anything except swapping out 60/40 for bucket. And she really needs the seat a little higher but we can fix that if need be.

2. Arm rest lid broke right where the "pin" goes into the latch. Is there a place to get a good one?

3. when shifting the gears will grind a little on 1-3rd like the clutch is not to the floor or a slave cyl. is going bad. Do these trucks have a clutch mstr and slave cyl's?

Thanks in advance

1. swap out the 60/40 for Explorer power bucket seats....they will allow the seat to go closer to the steering wheel (which she should sit as far away from it as possible because of the air bag) and she will be able to go upward with the power seats....

2. if you swap out the 60/40 for the Explorer buckets, get the Explorer center console to go with it....you will like it better anyways....

3. i have no clue, someone else will have to help you there....

oh yea, welcome to the forum! glad to see another '97 on here....

I was wondering if that would allow her to get a little closer. Do you have pics of your set up? Also, what years should I look for in the explorers for the seats/console?

try and bleed your clutch. Search for it, I've had a few threads started about it when I was doing my clutch.

I figured that is what needs to be done since the previous owner replaced the clutch and had the trans rebuilt a couple times in the past. It always feels like it is a cable clutch that is just out of adjustment. I will probably do it this weekend if the rain stops here in Jax.

Just need to know what year seats will fit into the Ranger properly so I can start the search.

Also, are there any favorite salvage places for the Rangers like there is for the stangs?

To all that said welcome...thank you. Seems like a nice forums so far.

Find seats from a 1995-2001 Explorer...the center console is a nice touch (only seen others, not my own)...

Parts are Rangers are hard to find...junkyards, eBay, Craigslist, and Internet forum classifides are your best bets. Explorerforums, ranger-forums, therangerstation, to name a few...

G'luck...

Thank you for the info. I have already started looking on Craigslist hoping for a local pickup.
