Get a factory leather wrapped steering wheel from a ranger. I'd recommend 98-03, newer is obviously better because for some reason the ford leather wrapped wheels dont age well- they either fade up at the top or get crinkled up towards the top.

Yep...what bwester said. newer the better. You airbag will fit up to 03 steering wheels. You can even look into explorer and mazda wheels, many are the same. Sometimes brand new Ford NOS shows up on the ebay.

will have to look into getting one off a newer ranger, sounds like a good idea... i would get an aftermarket wheel if i could ( imo they look better then then oem wheels but the illegallity of not having an air bag.... especially if i ever got in an accident...pretty sure i would get fined and nailed from insurance company as well) anyway to use newer instrument cluster in a 2000 if so any wiring mods needed?

no wiring needed...a really popular mod is putting in a white faced explorer cluster.

You might even look at getting a steering wheel out of a Mustang. I noticed a few weeks back that the wheel looked identical to a Ranger/Explorer wheel

They are similar looking and there sure is a bigger abundance of them, but I do not think they will fit on a Ranger steering column.
