Explorer seat question!
Are the explorer seats any wider than like say the passenger seat. i put in the explorer console and now i have like a gap between the seats and the console which makes it not to sturdy. i tried putin in the bracket but it didnt work out to good. i wanted to swap out my seats for some explorer seats neways and i just wanted to know if they were any wider so that i dont have to put the bracket in and that the seats would offer enough support so that the console doesnt move all that much. and what yeat seats will fit the ranger seat brackets so that i dont have to swap them out!
Thanks in advance!!!

go to search at top of page and type in explorer seats-should be able to find lots of info-i installed full length exp. console, used bracket and also installed 2 screws into floor thru mounting holes under cup holders in console. expl seats i found in j/y where from 2000 model.they do fit close around console.
seats i found were all electric, so i used brackets that came with seats from explorer. it was a 4 door expl. they will bolt right in. i did have to drill 2 holes into floor to mount seat belt slides to floor . hope this helps. good luck.

The Explorer power leather seats are a direct bolt in and are one of the best mods I have done so far. I kept my factory center console as I was lucky enough to have factory bucket seats in my Ranger. My seats came out of an '01 Explorer and required some new foam pads where your butt sits and some general cleaning and fixing up. The leather covers are in very good condition still. I spent a few days soaking them up in leather conditioner and cleaner which made them like brand new again. The Explorer center console is a nice mod too, but I don't particularly care for it as my original one works fine. If I would have had a bench seat in my truck, I would have to put in some sort of center console though. One day when I have some extra money I may see if one of the local upholstery shops can recover and two-tone the seats in black and tan to more match the factory cloth upholstery.

Once you have the seats out for the swap, you'll have plenty of room to properly mount the center console. Relying on the seats to hold it in place isn't going to cut it in the long run, IMO.
You didn't mention what kind of console you put in, but FWIW, when I recently mounted a full center console from an Ex in my Ranger, I had to trim a little bit up front to make it fit properly. I also opted not to use the bottom portion of the rear bracket (shown here) and instead I fastened the upper portion of the bracket (shown here) directly to the cab floor using a couple of the existing studs that are sticking up from the floor (the studs held down the original console bracket).
