school me on redoing head liners

school me on redoing head liners

My sister and i are going to redo the head liner in her 84 montie carlo ss. i know what fabric to use but how do i prep the old headliner and what glue/ spray adhesive should i use. pretty much tell me anything you think would be helpful.

take apart interior trim pieces, then take out the headliner,, dont really need to prep it if you go with good spray, get the PERMENANT spray adhesive, not he temporary stuff. then overlay the headline, fold back and start ant one end. spray about 3 inches then press down the fabric smoothing from the inside out. working out all creases. 3M makes a good spray.. its called fabric adhesive,, its srays out sorrta like spidermans web! then cut the edges about 2 inches long and tuck em up... shouldnt take over an hour

does anyone have a link to the spray or know a place to buy it. i found some stuff on advance autos web site that it specifically for headliners

thats what im thinking im just not sure where to get it. maybe the place we are getting the headliner material will have what we need

Any hobby or auto body store should have something that would work.

3M Super 77 should work too, if you can't find the others.

the best stuff to use is 3M Adhesive, it works great!!! its like $11 a can or so, but it does work and you get what you pay for.
