Headliner Question

Ok, so I did alot of searching, Im planing on recovering my headliner this week with some charcoal material and I have a couple questions.

1) Do I need to remove the old fabric before installing the new stuff, if so is there a technique to it?

2) Is there a specific type of material with a special backing or something that i should be looking into? I am wanting the general feel of what i have in the truck stock, just a much different color.

thanks

Go to JoAnn fabrics. They carry headliner material and the adhesive needed. I paid 40 to redo the one in my sentra and it looked original when it was done. To answer your other question yes you do have to remove the old material. The one in my old sentra was real easy to remove. I'm betting that the one in my 98 will be a lot harder. Just take your time and make sure you get all of it off. When you put the mew material on do it in small sections and do it slowly and make sure that you get it in all of the grooves.

Apply a lot of adhesive also. Don't go cheap, buy an extra can of the spray adhesive and just go to town. The first time I did mine it started sagging once the heat hit it.
