Help me decide something...

I'm stuck with the tan interior, which is something I have mixed emotions about. On one side, I like it because it is becoming less common in today's cars, and MANY Rangers have grey interiors.

On the other hand, it matches NOTHING but tan, so carbon fiber, aluminum, and even painted accents IMo don't flow well.

I'm considering a black and tan theme...so to accomplish that, I'm thinking about installing black leather racing seats, black floormats, and install the tan Explorer console. Do you guys think this would look right? Tan is too finicky; it's either too dark, a different hue, or something. So I figured black would acent the already present areas of black inside the truck.

Poll is also included. Thanks for your time!

I would say do what you can in black, with the look of your truck, it would definitely go better with your style of ranger.

Are you just replacing the seat covers? Will they be cloth or leather? You could do black with beige trim.

I would be replacing the whole seat. The Explorer seat is the obvious way out, but keep in mind that most have the same amount or less side-bolstering as our Ranger seats. I want something with more lateral support. Also, most Leather Explorer seats say either "Limited" or Eddie Bauer on them. Don't need all that.

I'm also not crazy about spending huge amounts of money on the interior, either. The main focus of my truck is the supercharged motor, excellent handling, and Saleen-esque body styling.

I'm seriously limiting the interior to some good seats, the Explorer console, white gauges, and maybe a decent powered sub, such as the Infinity Basslink.

The seats I was actually considering were the ones from Summit Racing, shown in many truck/Mustang magazines. You know, the "simulated leather" ones. Is the quality decent on these? I'm not going to be a stickler for "real" leather, just need good support and comfort.

Thanks again guys for your help!!

i know that my mazda seats are WAY more comfortable and have great side bolstering and seat bolstering compared to the ranger seats, they're very nice.

i think a tan/black interior would be a good look. i'd say do w/o the floormats being black, it might would overcome the tan IMO

Tan shows dirt too easy. Back and tan is the way to go. You need contrast to make the interior more eye-catching.

besides, I've always been partial to the ole Black an' Tan

Haha, nice one George!

I guess the main thing I'm trying to avoid is like ten different hues of "tan" trying to get a coordinated interior. I don't want my truck to look like a baseball glove. And I've always loved black seats....

I think black seats in an all tan interior would look sorta out of place... I think if you could find a set of black leather seats with tan/beige inserts on the seat and back, it would look good, but then the tan on the seats would need to match the rest of the interior...

I'm assuming your radio bezel is already black, but i don't know. Are you painting your vent's etc?

Take some pics and photoshop a couple to get an idea. Maybe post one here too.

those are just the spots that show wear and soiling

I'll give you guys a quick breakdown of how my truck's interior is laid out:

Dash, door panels, carpet, seats, and headliner are all tan. The Radio bezel, instrument cluster surround, door center panels, window cranks, and cupholders are all black.

In the center of my truck, there is nothing, black, so I thought the black seats would look good in a sea of tan.

Here are the biggest deciding factors, though:

1) Seats MUST be race style with good bolstering (think Recaro)

2) Seats MUST NOT be cloth....I'm tired of it, want something...sleeker

3) If tan is present in the seats, it MUST match perfectly....hence why I think black is easier...

4) I REALLY REALLY do not want to spend over $600 on seats....

Here are some Cobra (Brand, not SVT...aka Corbeau) seats that would be PERFECT....

IF the tan matches....

And another....

Both have available embroidery....imagine the Saleen letters in the backrests....

Too bad they're $600 EACH...
