Sirius Sattlite

Hey, just wondering where you guys who own sirius, where did you mount your radio? Id like to mount it some other place other than the windshield. Also if you have pics that would be good too. Oh and i plan to just use the cig lighter as the power source.

And disregard the typo of Sattelite* haha.

i would hate to have an extra radio in the cab... i would get a deck that supports satelite radio, most of the newer ones do now days.

you could mount it in one of the cup holders... i didnt because the shifter would hit it but if you had an auto it should work

There is a mount out there that allows you to use 2 screws that hold the HVAC control panel on that looks pretty sweet. It angles the radio to the drivers side, as well as titls it up too. A buddy of mine had one in his chevy, it's been a while since I've talked to him, but I'll see if I can get in touch with him and see who makes it.

Mine is setup hooked up to my alpine stereo, made just for them. It is stuffed behind the dash, and the only obvious thing is the antenna on the roof, but you won't really notice it unless you are up on it, I painted it to match the truck.

get a pioneer deck that supports the pioneer reciever at Crtchfield.com, the cleanest way by far. Mount the reciever under the seat.

I have a Pioneer Deck (MP3/WMA/CD), along with a Sirius under the dash unit that is made to plug right into it. (Control Sirius through stereo deck itself)

Ran antenna on rear of roof, and ran through 3rd brake light, around moldings, and the unit itself is under the carpet, way up under the dash on passenger side.

Works great, and less eye candy to tempt would be theives.

Anyone tell me how they hard wired their Sirius in i.e. the power adapter is 12v input, 6v output to power my Sirius head.

Confused.

Yeah you have to use the 12v adapter they provide, so what I did I was not entirely happy with, but it worked just fine. I soldered power wires from my 12v outlet onto the terminals of the sirius adapter, wrapped the whole thing with electrical tape and stuffed it inside the dash.

Can the stock Sirius antenna be used with aftermarket head units?

Since the Sirius unit uses a cigarette power adapter to convert 12v to the required volts for the satellite radio, I just ended up installing another cigarette lighter outlet behind the dash that I got from Radio Shack.
