mustang dome light, map lights not working

i have a 2000 ford ranger, with a 3-bulb mustang dome light installed.

the center light works as intended but the map lights refuse to come on.
i've tested that they work with direct current from the battery the switches turn on the map lights. once installed they don't work though.

anyone else had this issue?

Use a longer ground screw. I know mine gets a little off sometimes and lights won't turn on and I twist my dome light a bit then it works.

i'll give that a shot (tomorrow). though if that was the case then wouldn't the center light not work either?

just double check the always hot power feed terminal works or there in some cases.
there are three you screw into one dome light turns on when door is open second the map light unit that is hot all the time and third is the ground directly to the roof

:( notice that those are led's?
well, apparently i got the polarity wrong on both :D.

i remembered after i took the dome light down the third time for the day and connected it to my battery wondering why they refuse to come on even with direct voltage.
