FML with this OHC

FML with this OHC
So i looked up the How To Install OHC by mossyoak03 and went ahead and started cutting and running wires and everything was going well untill i snapped in the OHC into the bracket. well it seems when i line up the screw holes towards the garage door clicker holder thing
the tabs towards the windshield keep popping out. I know that they are in there good too cuse i had to punch them in. So then I had the idea of "well if all these counsels are the same and the mounting bracket is the same why is this not fitting? What about the roof brace towards the windshield, is that different?" so now i think i have a valid argument that doing this to an 06 is different than other trucks. dont know why but it is. here are the pictures

PLEASE HELP!!! I need to prove my fiance wrong and show her that it will fit and that im not going to have to drive around with a hole in my headliner for the rest of time

lol i have a bracket and yes the holes are on the big side but what im thinking is that front brace sticks down lower on 06 and newer and i think ill have to cut out a box to get it to sit flush on the roof because as of right now when i screw the plate in then add the OHC the part that is towards the back window of the OHC hangs almost an inch below the headliner. I just dont know if anyone had this same problem in the newer trucks.

Same thing happened in my truck, the trick is to put the screws in loose (a few threads) and then snap it into the bracket. Once it is in the bracket tighten down the screws.
if that doesn't work bending the bracket down some will help, or putting a washer or 2 between the bracket and the roof sheet metal to lower it down some.
hope that helps ya.

The center tab of the bracket should slide into a slot that you need to cut (horizontally) between the two vertical slots that the tabs pass through. A lot of guys skip that process, but that is the correct way. That will keep the bracket in position and was how it was mounted in the Explorer that it was removed from. Also, bend the rear portion of the bracket slightly so it will push the headliner out a little more. The rear portion of the bracket will be under the headliner. A piece of heavy foam or carpet wrapped around and duct taped to the rear edge of the bracket will also help push the headliner down toward the OHC and help eliminate the gap. Don't worry, it will fit. Take your time and don't let it get you frustrated.
If you've cut the headliner the full length of the bracket (not good), you'll need to put a piece of sheetmetal across the rear of the opening to reduce the length of the opening, so the bracket will push the headliner out when it is behind it. Duct tape the sheet metal to the inside of the headliner. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to explain.
