whenever i start up my truck the speedometer will stick for a while. it jumps about every 5mph and then stick there untill either i hit it or i go 5 mph faster. at first i thought it was because of the cold because after i drove for a while it works great. however now its warmer out and it still sticks when i first start the truck up but after its been driven for a while frees up and works fine. Any one had this happen to them or any ideas what might be wrong?

My tach gets stuck sometimes and I haven't looked into it much but it seems to only do it when I have the headlights on (weird lol). Maybe because it's colder in the dark, but I usually just give it a nice tap of my hand and it fixes it. Speedo has done it before to. I figured the previous owner fudged something up when he put in the aftermarket gauge backing.

 

check the VSS its the speed sensor...

I was driving a 06 F350 super duty diesel turbo down to new york city area... and the speedometer keep dalling and coming back up... and it ended up being the wiring harness... but maybe its the VSS or the wiring harness... maybe its a topic to go to the dealer about..
