Search is your friend.

01-03 Explorer Sport Trac and Explorer Sport cluster will swap right in and everything will work properly. Search "explorer cluster" on ebay or hunt your local junkyards. Just make sure you get a 2wd cluster. You can tell it's 2wd because it doesn't have 4x4 idiot lights.

Gauge swap is a direct swap....just unbolt your old gauge cluster from your dash, and install your new cluster.

BUT...first take a look at this how-to I made. it covers making your odometer correct:

And don't do overlays....they stupid dumb and look ricer and are just total junk.

Chris... Shanes "How-To" on this is the best write up I have ever seen and used. Not only does he give awsome pictures he gives videos while playing AC/DC in the background, lol.

If you do this mod just follow his step by step process and you will be golden.

OK I got a new cluster but mine is one with out the Tach (tach on the dash - old school) and I want to do the re-color of the gauges BUT what is up with the needles ?
Why can’t you just reposition to “0” when reinstalling ?
Is it really necessary to do the battery cal procedure before removing the needles ?

I know this sound like I am trying to do something the easy way BUT it doesn’t seem right, there has to be a more straight forward way to do this.

thanks

There is no '0'. It's 10. lol. If you put the needle on in hopes is all the way down on the stop ****, it'll still be 10 over + or - some because the neetle fitment on the shaft is pretty tight, so if you've got the needle riding on the shaft, you could turn the shaft and it'll be even more off. That's why it's necessary for an accurate speed reading.
