Went to the Salvage Yard today

So I went to the salvage yard today and I think I made out pretty good. got both the overhead console with harness/temp sensor and the full center console. only 2 problems, its tan and it didnt have a lid so I grabbed one out of an Expedition. its a shaped a little different but all i have to do is redrill the holes to mount it until I can find an explorer arm rest. All for $60. A little paint and a little cuttin on the seat and it'll be in. Ohh and there are 4 mustangs with dome lights still in them black and gray ones if anyone is interested they are would be 15 plus shipping.

Its easy to paint the consoles, just wipe it down use some Duplicolor Adhesion Promotor and then Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric Paint then finish it with some clear. Mine was gray when I started and I painted it black, it really does look great in there. I recovered the top as well, it was orginally a Red Hawaiian print lol

Do the explorer consoles mount in to the ranger without having to change anything or what?

If you have 60/40 seats you eather have to cut the arm rest out or get some 40/40 seats. and i think there is a bracket you bolt the console too. if you search there is a lot of threads on this already.

There is a metal bracket under the console.

Well I did the install of the center console and 60/40 to 40/40 seat mod yesterday I need to clean the seat up a couldn't figure out were to tuck the fabric under and how to attach just wanted to get it done cause the wife was a little irritated that I was out working on the truck again lol. Ill get pics up later need to clean out the truck Ive got the fan motor and ac ducts taken out of the console and 3 overhead consoles torn apart in my truck. Its taking 3 consoles to make 1. screen is burnt out of two of them and the dome lights out of another.

Here are the pics, I didnt get any of the seat mod, cause it went soo fast didnt think of taking any.

And I think I am missing a piece inside the console can someone show me the piece that is missing so that when I go get the mustang dome light I can see if I just missed the piece.

I had a grey one and could not find a tan one, so I painted it with Wal-Mart paint and it matches really well. How much for a mustang dome light. I took my ranger one in and out too much and the nubs don't hold mine on anymore. I have a rubberband over the bracket, under the actual plastic dome light...ghetto.

Im going to a scrapyard in a few days to look for one of the consoles. Now will i need to get it out of a 2001 explorer, or is there a year range where they were the same mounting points?

HUH??

In the overhead console is that what you are talking about?, there were no wires in the center console that I hooked up except the 12V plug.
