Making a center console questions

I've got a 98 Ranger XLT standard cab, my center console is all torn up and uncomfortable and I never seat 3 people in my truck.

A few questions, can I remove my center console/seatbelt etc? After I do that I'd want to remove my cupholder console on the floor and put in a home made wooden one. The only tricky part I can anticipate would be leaving a notch where it comes up over my middle seat so that I can still move my seat up and down.

Anyone got any comments or tips for me or pictures of your's

Thanks

You could always cut the whole side of the seat off for the center seat then put an explorer center console in.

Cut it and resew it? Otherwise it'd look pretty sloppy I'd think?

What about tossing the seat and getting a single seat then putting the console in?

X2 on an Expo center console

I had my drivers seat cut into a bucket seat then dropped the console right in

this is my 60/40 converted to expo center. I just tucked the fabric back and zip tied it since my seat is crap anyways. Later on I will do nicer seats

You take a sawzall to your seat? Where'd you get the console? Junkyard or new?

Good stuff, whats keeping it in the Explorers? A few bolts or something?

A little off topic but while I got people in my thread, when a tint shop says they'll do your taillights, are they going to put actual tint on them or just spray them with that cheap light tinter crap?

4 Phillips screws in the bottom of the console, then the console will come up, and you'll need the bracket that's under it, I can't remember if that is bolted in or not.

Just ask the Tint shop. they'll tell you.
You can do it yourself for cheap, Get a can of VHT nightshade.

Cool thanks for the answers. Ford clips suck! Had to break the ones on my grille to paint it, then last night I did my intake and had to rip out the old box, that son of a bitch was in there good.

I'm assuming I'll be drilling holes into my floor to attach it?

You could always use sheet metal screws and some silicone on the threads.

In my ’03, the extra part on the driver's side just unbolted.
You need to take the seat apart some, but you will see the bolts.

I started to do a std 60/40 to bucket swap and wanted the see how the tracks attached.
Not only did I find out that the extra 20% unbolted but that the tracks of a std cab 60/40 unbolted and just bolt up to the buckets, NICE ! Note that the bucket seats came out of an Ext Cab and I was putting them in a 2 dr std cab.

Your 98 may be different but take the Driver's Seat apart and chk it out before starting the SawsAll thing.
The back may need to come apart first but you will see.

Also,. I found out that the passenger bucket seat is the same as a driver’s seat with same holes in the seat pan.
You can use a passenger’s side seat in place of a driver’s side seat by just using your driver’s side track on a passenger seat. Note: All holes line up.
At least that is how mine played out.

Luck to ya.

I had to drill the rear part to make it fit but the holes are already indented in the floor for it. The front holes are already there

My seats are wide enough that I didn't need to bolt the rear of the console down, the seats hold it in place. The front uses the appropriate mounting location

I haven’t bolted my cntr console in yet, too many things to do, but I have looked at the floor when I did the sound deadening and all of the mounting points are there.
Now to do it.

Don’t forget, find a JY Ranger with the same interior and another 60/40 Seat setup and steal the passenger seat.
