Has anyone installed a separate starter button and where ?

 

I wish my lawnmower had that option, haha

 

Why? What benefit other than thinking you have a racecar is there? I will not understand this fad.

Yeah seriously. I think it would be kinda cool. But I honestly dont know of anyone that has one.

 

It is so much easier to press a button than reach into your pocket, pick out the right key, stick it in the ignition and turn the truck on.... duhhhhh...

 

Let me just walk outside to my Ford GT and start my supercharged 5.4 with a button... oh wait i just woke up

 

Why not just leave the key in the ignition then? I saw a commercial the other day where they were bragging about how whatever car company it was, was revolutionary cause it had "push button start" I called my Friend Howard and said, I guess your 1946 Crosley is Revolutionary now! LOL

 

I want one on my mower cause I hate messing with the loose ignition and bad keys. lol

 

had one in my 1st gen (sorry no pics)

had it along with the clutch bypass switch (flip a switch instead of pushing in the clutch to start)

insert key, turn to "on" flip the switch, push the start button....it was a thing of beauty

 

instead of just just turning the key?


I had it on my Galaxie, but it was a heap and the starter wouldnt kick over with the ignition switch. So i wired it up to the starter solenoid (what neutral safety switch?) and put it in the ashtray. It worked, but it was out of beater necessity.... not trying to be cool.

 

But Why? So you could A: Push in clutch, and turn key to start, or with your setup, B: Push in clutch (or put in neutral) Turn key, Flip switch push button... Seems like a waste to me.

I did a Push button starter in my 89 POS ranger cause when My Girlfriend was driving it, it started to smoke from an electrical short when you turned it to start, but that was just cause I was too lazy to rewire the column on a $50 truck.

once i installed the button i could still start the truck with the key if i wanted.

after all the engine work i did to that truck, it felt like a race car (not very fast but punchy) ....i figured it would be a nice touch

and besides....it was MY truck, i could do what I wanted to it and I wanted a "push to start" button

 

I guess it is a trend I just won't understand. To me I equate it with Tire Flies, and Spinning wheels, not really good for anything, but something to point at and say look, I have that.

wired it in a derby car, my old job had it on the plow truck cause well...its a plow truck and the ignition was bypassed. my old s10 needed it due to my boss breaking my ignition when he tried to move it...ended up using the tractor and moving it...pucked it up real nice.

Can't you just get a remote starter and then push the fob button as you walk to the truck?

Dude, most of the threads that you comment in. . . . you always have something negative to say. Just shut the **** up if you don't have something good to say. If he wants a starter switch, then cool. We don't really give a **** if you don't understand.

 

My 37 Ford use to have one but now just has a dummy switch in it. My 69 Mach 1 had one because the ignition switch went to junk a long time ago and one was added as a lazy mans fix. In both vehicles they were eliminated because its just one more thing to go wrong. I know when it comes to me having a reliable starting vehicle or one that looks cool, I choose reliable everytime.

Nobody's giving a reason that this is a benefit other than A: you feel like your ranger is a race car. Or B: it broke and it was a cheap fix. Other wise just plain silly.
