hey all, new to the ranger as of yesterday. it has just the basics, no cd deck, 2 speakers up front. question is, there are spots for the rear speakers but does it have connections in dash and in those spots for speakers? i plan on swapping a cd deck in with the connector kit and ect. will i have to run my own wires back to them? also any help hiding the amp wires i'll be running would be helpfull too.
I ran RCAs and Remote wire for amp under flooring (mines rubber not carpet) and then removed the strip in the door jam that says ranger on it that you can wipe your feet on when you step in.LOL. ran cables under that and put it back on. Depends on year and if it has that. Mines 2004 and extra cab. So ground and power cable from battery i came up thru a rubber gromet/drain plug behind the fold up seat on the drivers side. My E-150 work vehicle didnt come with any rear speakers and the wires are not there. Your ranger doesnt have any stock rear speakers?
no it doesn't have the speakers in rear, it's the basic model. was just wondering if anyone knew if the wires were there or not. i can run the wires myself, but would rather not.. less to do lol.
ok, got amp and stereo all in and wired. problem is that the rear speakers don't even have mounting holes it looks like. i'm gonna look more into it when i can, dark here. but does anyone here know if the wiring is still ran back that way for them even though they aren't there?
yea the hole is there for the speaker, but no holes for mounting it.. i have to measure to see.. but the only ones there, are the ones for the actual mesh cover that's there stock. i'm actually more concerned with the wiring. i looked up some diagram, and it appears that it should be there, but i reached around inside and felt nothing. when i get a chance, i guess i'll have to pull the whole panel out. hopefully someone can tell me if it should be there before i get that far lol.
I got mine off crutchfield and they send me a connector to keep the factory amp working or else I would have had to run wires from the stereo back to the amp.
If you haven't picked a stereo yet, I love my JVC KD-R730BT. I can play Pandora off my android phone and it plays through the stereo without any wires, just through the blue tooth. I love it!!! Check it out.
yep, like i said, my only concern atm is just the wiring harness. i stuck my whole arm in the hole and nothing lol. the only thing i can figure is that it's way up near the roof, or near the floorpan. i'll tear it apart soon and see what's up thanks all.
If you are running an amp then consider the output of the amp vs wire gauge, OEM wire will not hack it.
I am running 12 ga, which I am told is overkill, but from posting on this site I see 14 ga being used more than not but it depends on the output of the amp.
If I remember correctly the wiring in my 03 comes along side the center hump on the driver’s side. If you take out the seats and carpet or mat think about laying in some sound deadening material, makes a lot of difference.
The 2004 RANGER regular cab truck I just purchased has a AM/FM FORD basic radio manufactured by PIONEER with front door speakers and NO rear speakers and no wiring in the rear to connect any. There are two speaker grills mounted behind the seats but no mounts when the grills are removed. I would like to add rear speakers with a radio upgrade but not sure how to mount them.
