Rear view mirror glue????

My rear view mirror fell off for the third time. Is there any glue that holds up really good. Like it came from the factory? It seems like ive been wasting my money on the permatex glue from advance auto. The damn mirror just keeps falling off after a couple weeks. You guys recommend any good glue?

Call Binswanger Glass and have them do it. They use a glue (not sure what it is) that lasts a really really long time

Wait, wait… you tried the stuff that in the package with the cleaner/activator and the glue ?
You did the process per the procedure ?
And the mirror still falls off ?

This does not compute…
I have used the permatex mirror adhesive on at least ten vehicles in the North Esst where in the winter the temp changes are dramatic and none of the re-mounts have fallen off.

Are you sure you are doing it correctly, sorry nothing meant by it ?

If you want to try agin do this, mark the location, scrape the area to remove the old glue, Clean with alcohol, use the activator, use just the amount of adhesive suggested by the manufacture; it gotta work.

Added: I am talking about the Mirror Kit not just the adhesive.

Yea, I followed the directions. I even left the mirror off overnight and let the tab sit . It works for about a month or 2. They all seem to fall off.

The only other alternative is to… mark off the area to mount the mirror, use a very fine sandpaper or glass etching fluid on the area, then the cleaner, etc.

Something is wrong with the surface of your windshield the glue kits work, funny how your doesn’t.

Luck to ya and if you get an answer please post it.

When my mirror broke off last year, I got a kit from WallyWorld that had the adhesive & a black plastic mount.
I cleaned the glass & mount 3 or 4 times with 91% rubbing alcohol & let dry well before applying the adhesive. It's been solid as a rock ever since.

Maybe you got a bad batch of adhesive first go around??

If your latest kit doesn't work, you could try one of those cheap 2 part epoxy tubes that claim to adhere anything to anything.

Good luck

I used crazy glue and it held perfectly in my old Dodge Shadow. I don't know if the Ranger mirrors can un-clip off the windshield, but on my Dodge, the mirror came off after loosening a set screw. All what remained was a metal piece. I just put some super glue on the metal piece and the windshied and then pressed the metal piece on. I used a length of wood to hold the metal piece to the windshield overnight. The next day I slid the mirror on and it never fell off again.

Are you using a temporary brace to hold the mirror in place? Can you remove the mirror from the mount (if any)??
