Has anyone on here had experience on re-doing your headliner? Mine looks kind of crappy and it'd look better with new fabric on it, so didn't know what kind of adhesive you used to get the fabric to stick.

And for anyone that's used bedliner on the floor those who have power seats what do you do to keep the electrical wires on the floor out of the way after you did the bedliner on the floor?

 

if you are wanting to re do the headliner, just pull off the old material, clean well and get some spray glue. I used 3M and Permatex and both work well as long as you follow the instructions and don't stretch the material. Start from the middle and work out, doing small sections at a time. as far as the wiring. I would try to re route them up the tranny hump or along the bottom of the door area and attach them with p straps or cable tie buttons after you line the floor.

I don't know if the headliner will clean, it has a sunroof and when I got it, it basically sat for a year and half, so no-one knew the sunroof leaked lightly and the headliner has white crap that kinda looks like mold but not big a clumpy and want to get it taken care of, so I'm not sure if it will clean off......think maybe throwing the material in the washer in warm/cold or hot/hot in the gentle cycle would hurt the material?

 

yeah once you pull it off it's pretty well shot. you may want to get a new headliner from a yard and start over. they are easy enough to cut. just lay the old one on top of the new one and then trace out the hole for the sunroof. take a utility knife and cut it out. then you can start from there. as far as the cleaning just get all the stuff off like old glue and material. you can use a scotch brite pad for that. some times just your fingers will flake it off.

im about to redo mine..althought mine is in perfect condition im scared to do it lol..

 

its not nice enough here to even attempt anything with a vehicle that could take a couple days, was plannin to do it in spring or when spring like weather happens.

 

Actually it should only take one day. you can pull it out and get the material on then let it dry a few hours or over night depending on when you start then put it back in. I am going to be doing mine here in the next week or so. i will do a how to with pics and see if I can post them.

Thanks for the complements on my truck it's a 92 with 39k.. that's the one I am working on at this time. they truck pretty much the same just I have a set of NASCAR Wheels on it now.

Yeah, I'm doing it in my exploder and its a 4door so I've gotta rip panels off above the head and I think the rear of it I've gotta take the whole plastic panels out so I could get the headliner out right (I think). The way you talk is if I take the headliner off the cardboard, its going to garbage which is probably true..so I was thinking of running to the local Joann Fabrics store and seeing if they had any thin gray fabric to use as my headliner, but don't know if they have anything thin enough that will stick good to the cardboard or w/e that board is that the headliner is glued to. I'll try and be on a watch out for your right up then.

 

Jo Ann Fabrics should have it. I redid the headliner in my old 96 Sentra and it was real easy. All I did was pull all of the old fabric off of the board cleaned all of the old foam off and used the headliner glue that I got from there and went out back and it took me about 30 minutes. I overlapped it so when it was dry I could cut the extra fabric away. I changed the color from gray to black on mine. They had red, blue, black, gray, and tan. Good luck. It shouldn't be too hard.

 

Ok, Thanks, I just wasn't sure if they're have it in my width, because I don't want a seem going down the middle of my roof. So what'd you do about the foam? Did you lay new foam or just leave it foamless? I use to lay carpet so cutting material around things isn't any big deal for me.

 

The width is not a problem. It is the legnth that you have to measure. I had to use about a yard maybe a little more for my Sentra. You will probably need about two yards give or take a little. The headliner material has the foam already on it. Literally all you have to do is pull the headliner down pull the old foam and fabric off, clean the board and spray the glue a little at a time and put the new material on little by little. Jo-Ann Fabrics has the head liner material. it has the foam already on it. I would say you would need at least 2 yards. easy way to see is simply measure it. I am going to do a faux suede on mine and my material is fine so I think I am going to leave it for now. I hope to get started on it this week.

Yeah, wish I could start on mine soon too but the weather hasn't been very cooperative, I want to have a nice spring type day or a day in the 80's to do it, that'd be a great temp to work with it in.
