so how many of you guys will still be up there on sunday? looks like thats the only day i can make it up unless i come up friday after work.

i will try to be there early friday. sleeping in the ranger friday night out on the dunes saturday. hoping to sleep again in the ranger that night and staying abit sunday. if nothing breaks

That's an easy fix. Let them dry out, pull them and use clear bathroom silicone all around the seal. Put them back in.

Jeep + Chevy Parts = Looking for trouble

 

Just got bad news from the Polaris dealer, the head and the valve train on the ATV is seriously fukced up. I dont really have the time or the money to get it fixed in the next week. I will be making the decision in the next couple days as to whether I will be heading out to the dune this spring. As for right now, I have to say that I will probably not be able to join you guys until later this summer.

 

Whats all wrong with it? How much are they wanting to charge ya?

I could almost do it at the dunes, but I know how "easy" installs go and I would be working on it for 3 days lol

It takes shims to adjust the valves correct?

 

Exhaust valves are bent. They are now quoting me $700ish to fix it all up, that is, if there is no damage to the piston. I am going to pull the head myself and either do the work myself or bring it in and just have them do the head work.

I would have done most of it on my own, but I was running out of time.

 

If the valves are the only problem then you can prally get them fairly cheap. Im sure they are quoting you dealer parts at dealer price which are spendy.

I hate how much dealers rape you.

I have a local shop do my cam chain on my Z400 and it was only $200 (without parts) and that would have been harder to do then head work if that gives you a idea.

The 4 valves were $100, all the gaskets and oil and other BS was on there and then it was 5 hours worth of work.

As for the truck, my front diff is not happy with me. Shes screaming and makes weird noises every once and a while. I'll have to think about it. I really do want to go, but I'm afraid of breaking something now. Ill figure it out in the next couple days.
