Once we got the cooling system filled with lake water and bled properly, it was fine for the rest of the trip. the cooling system is reverse flow, so the radiator was air locked until i removed the upper hose and filled the radiator. His ABS light came on a few days later, but i think that is unrelated.
Next trip, i will be sure that the suitcase of lemonade is present!

Most of the oil is burned when the Active Fuel Management system is running. Its a system that I doubt you can wrap your head around, so I wont bother explaining how it works to you, but I will tell you that it does give me better mileage. Let me know when your 4.0 consistently gets 20MPG.
I used to be a ford fan boy, but simply put in my price range Chevy had a better product. Im not saying that Ford is crap, because they have a good product too. So does Dodge. All vehicles have their issues.
Burning oil is a good thing. Keeps the rings lubricated and happy. There's a reason these motors are lasting 300k with no major issues.
