I don't think you're going to find a place in Sayreville, NJ for a bonfire - unless it's in the Shoprite parkinglot.

Sayreville's my old home town, where were you thinking of, and what were you planning to do?

Pine Barrens actually, and you can wheel in any of the state forests as long as your vehicle is registered. Wharton State Forest is a great place for wheeling; it's huge, there are a lot of water crossings and the Pik-A-Lilly bar/restaurant up the road has great food.

Sorry, the "registered vehicle" comment is vague, you do not have to register a vehicle to drive there, it's got to be registered with your state and have insurance... basically if you've got a licence plate and an insurance card for your truck, it's legal out on the trails.

I'm down for it, but probably wouldn't be able to do anything until after Thanksgiving. One problem though - the place is huge and I'm not very familiar with the area. We'd need to find something to help us to navigate the trails - they're not mapped out on your typical gps.

Maybe there are some people on here that have been there before on here ? Anyone?? Or we could
find a local who knows the place. I know some spots around me but one of them is kind of risky and they are also small

Unfortunately, pretty much everybody that I used to wheel with out there is off this site now. I'll see if I can find any contacts through my some of them I'm still in touch with.

Yeah, we can do it. I'll talk to my wife tonight and find out what weekend's good for us. She and the dogs love to join us when we go wheeling.

Just as long as everybody that goes knows that they've got to stay on the trails, stay in the group... and won't go through any stupidly deep water out there (there's some crazy deep water out there).

These are just some of the water crossings I did in my old Bronco (6" lift with 35" tires):

I don't have any good water crossing shots with the Ranger, but it's been able to make it through most of the same stuff with 33's and a 3" body lift.
