stalling at highway speed

My 2000 ranger with 3.0 automatic 4x4 has started to stall at highway speed.
If I shift to neutral and try to start it will not start.
If I turn the key off and re start it will start.
Any ideas?

Fuel pump is most likely dieing.

However.
Does the engine just stall out right, no warning?
Electrical issue, fuel pump or fuel pump relay, neither of these would cause CEL(check engine light) or any codes to be set
Could be spark but unlikely if CEL doesn't stay on, spark system is monitored by the computer, fuel isn't.

Or does it seem to lose power as speed increases and then die?
Clogged fuel filter or clogged exhaust system, no CEL on these either.
Fuel filter is about flow, pump gives system pressure, if filter is clogging up you will reach the limit of the filters flow before you reach the RPM limit on the engine, lol, so engine sputters and stalls, it would restart because pressure has pushed enough fuel past the filter now.
Clogged exhaust is similar, in order for new fuel to come into the engine, the old burned up fuel must exit the engine, if it can't then less and less new fuel comes in, engine sputters and dies, it will restart because exhaust back pressure is gone after a few seconds.

Are there any other symptoms when engine dies, gauges going off or other dash lights coming on before engine RPMs are 0?
