2006 ford ranger 2 wd loud humming from the front

new to the forum have a little play in both front wheels... get just a little click with the wheels still on.... 59000 miles. Could it be a tire or wheel bearings?

Welcome! I imagine your problem is in the bearings.... there shouldn't be any play there. Can you tell if the play is there or at the ball joints?

Seems like just play when I check movement with my hands at 12 and 6 oclock position. Isn't 59000 miles a little premature wear for wheel bearings?

Not necessarily... I had to do one hub on my truck at about 60,000km (37,000 miles) and I know of at least a couple of other members who did the same at similar mileage.
