Hello from an adult Canadian Noob.
Hi All,
Just picked up my truck today. Always wanted a 4x4 compact and finally got one today!
Not mint but good shape, clean and a good base i think. Stock so def looking to do some mods.
Any suggestions as to best places to start would be appreciated. Always looking for advice and ideas so please feel free...

Upon reading it i guess i should add that in my Thread title in no way was i trying to suggest anything other than if you're younger and assume that i know as much about computers as you please guess again and bare with me if i ask too many questions....lol

Hi, I also live in Canada, but west side, Vancouver.
Your 2000 looks good, that is the last model year of the very reliable 4.0l OHV engine.
4.0l SOHC engine was in 2001 and up Rangers.
2000 was also the last year of the very unreliable PVH system, PVH = Pulse Vacuum Hubs.
Ford started changing to "live axle"(always locked) officially in 2001, but Rangers as far back as late 1999 were starting to get these instead of the PVH.
2000 4.0l Ranger should also have PATS, Passive Anti-Theft System.
The keys will have a black plastic end, inside that is an RFID tag, each key/tag will have a unique code number.
Around the key switch in the column is an antenna(wand) when you turn on the key the antenna sends out an RF(radio frequency) burst, this gives the tag enough power to respond with its unique code number(ID), so no batteries needed.
The PATS system compares the ID to a list of IDs programmed in at the factory, if a match is found then engine will start.
PATS keys can be added, if you have 2 working PATS keys you can add a 3rd or 4th yourself.
If you only have 1 working PATS key then you need a dealer or locksmith with Ford interface to add keys.
You can also "Clone" a PATS key, duplicate its ID to another key, this doesn't count as a 2nd "working" key to add more, because PATS assumes it is the same key, which it is, lol.
As far as upgrades I guess that would depend on the uses you have in mind.
