fueling

I'm ChuckFlores and I live in Opelika, AL
I'm 81 and I am having problems putting fuel in my 2000 Ranger
The vent system is supposedly open but the gas pump just clicks off every time I try to put gas in the truck.
Help?

Sounds like the fuel filler neck could be pinched/collapsed.

+1 ^^^

You will need to have someone get under the truck, on the side with the gas tank filler

They should see TWO metal tubes, a larger one to put the gas in and a smaller one to let the air out while gas goes in.
Have them run their hand down both tubes and feel the Rubber hoses that connect them to the tank.
Very odd for one to kink out of the blue?????

I assume no work has been done on gas tank or bed recently.

Could be vent hose has collapsed, gas tank has negative pressure in it when driving, EVAP system.

Welcome Chuck
Congratulations on your 2000 Ranger. I hope it brings you great joy and lots of happy miles. They are fun trucks. I hope you get your fueling problem solved. Common for that area to break down after many years of being on the road.
