New from Charlotte!

Hello all. I was putting too many miles on my new Shelby Mustang GT convertible, so decided to buy a used 2004 Ranger Edge Extended Cab for my daily driver. She's got a lot of miles on her but I've been told these things last forever.

I am somewhat familiar with the mod bug, as my Shelby is fairly tricked out. So I will ask, what do you all recommend I start with on the Ranger? This truck will be a DD, with my main goal being MPG economy. What can I do to maximize MPG and engine/drivetrain longevity?

Thanks all.

Howdy! Start off with exhaust and an intake then go with a Bama tuner. A tonue(no clue how to spell that) cover will also help a good bit.

Yes they will.

These are the tuners that most of the guys on here run: Click here
I have one and love it, it will also remove your speed limiter.

I actually already have an xcal2 for my Shelby, although I don't believe I can use it for the Ranger as it is tied to the Shelby. This is the first I've heard of a tuner helping gas mileage though. When I loaded my tune on my Shelby I actually lost MPG (likely due to heavier foot).

its all about the tuning that you get. Get it breathing better than get her tuned to run real nice like.

Yeah, I bought a convertible 600 HP Shelby as the fun gas guzzling monster... but as a daily driver my new 2WD Ranger is quite an upgrade in economy. Supposedly this truck will get me 21 MPG hwy and that is a far cry from 11-12 MPG that the monster in the garage drinks up!

Since this is my new DD and will be used almost exclusively on the highway, I want to maximize mileage and longevity. I'm thinking a tonneau cover and new K&N air filter and my first two mods. Any recommendations?
