I just joined the forum and yes I am looking for information and opinions.

For what, you might ask ( or not ).

I am looking at a 2005 Ranger with a 4.0 V6 with 135K miles.

Haven't drove or started it yet, wanted to do some research first.

So what I am wondering is what is the life span of the SOHC timing chain and the engine, I know it won't be the same for everyone, but on an average.
And if anyone knows, what would a shop charge to change it out ? That will vary too.

I've done some searching and found the engine is not an interference engine but don't want to wait until it breaks. And engine life seems to be good with proper care.

And not to start another "oil thread", what is the opinion of using Rotella T6 in this engine ?
