lift kits for 2wd 94 ranger

hey guys i have a question. i have a 1994 ranger xlt extended cab its 2wd. im wanting to maybe put a lift kit on it but not wanting to spend the money on the lift. my little brother bought a 2wd ranger from a family member that had previously put on home made lift kit for it. its a sweet lookin ranger. just curious what someone would make this homemade lift kit out of and how hard it would be to do this. thanks!!!
