Screwed up truck

HI, I HAVE A1994 4CYLINDER 5 SPEED RANGER. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE FLUID AT A 10 MINUTE CHANGE PLACE. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND ADDED TO THE TRANNSMISSION FLUID. I DROVE 5 MILES, NOTICED SMOKE AND FOUND FLUID ALL OVER THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. WHEN I RETURNED THEY TOLD ME IT WAS 3 QUARTS LOW AND HE FILLED IT. FROM WHAT I'VE RESEARCHED IT ONLY HOLDS 2.8 QUARTS, SO SOUNDS LIKE HE OVERFILLED AND BLEW A SEAL OR SOMETHING. SEEMS TO BE SHOOTING OUT WHERE THE DRIVESHAFT GOES IN, AND THIS SEAL WAS REPLACED A MONTH AGO WITH THE NEW DRIVESHAFT. NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM TILL THE TRANNY FILL.

Thanks, went back to the kwik lube and they blew me off. Said it wasn't their fault. I've been busy emailing every complaint site I can find, including Texaco, Chevron who owns this place.

Never ever ever go somewhere like that again. I made that mistake when I first had my truck and I too almost had a f'ed up tranny. Managed to save it before any real damage was done.

Find a friend who can help you, try it yourself or take it to a good Ford dealer and pay a few extra dollars.

I took my truck to Kwik lube 1440 West State Rd. 84 on 10/17/09 to have the oil changed and transmission fluid checked. They filled the manual transmission, changed the oil and said I needed a new gas filter. I explained the gas filter had been changed 2 weeks prior, paid and left. 5 miles down the road the truck started smoking from underneath and I drove to American muffler where I have taken my trucks for years. Dave Shannon, the mechanic who a month ago installed a new seal and put my driveshaft back in after Broward Drivetrain rebuilt it, told me they overfilled the tranny, didn't give it enough time to level off and blew the seal. A transmission specialist next door confirmed this. I drove back to kwik lube, they put more fluid in and told me it was 3 quarts low when I brought it in the first time. I left again after they dryed the bottom of the truck off and as soon as it heated up fluid was again blowing out and smoke was everywhere. Giving the benefit of the doubt I started by calling David's Automotive in Fort Lauderdale who I have been dealing with for 20 years. They did some work on my fuel filter on the 23rd of September, saw no sign of any transmission leak, drove the truck and I have had no problems till I took it to Kwik lube. I contacted Ford and they told me the tranny on my truck only holds 2.8 quarts, if it was that low it would not have been moving. I went back to the lube shop today with my friend who drives me to work since I'm unable to drive the smoke machine for fear the tranny will blow. They refuse to admit they are at fault, I called my lawyer and have started collecting statements from everyone involved in recent dealings with my truck. I have tried to be fair and done my research but why should I pay out more money for something they did. Thank you for hearing me out, I'm very upset at how the company has treated me.

Up here the ford dealer i use actually lowered their oil change price. not a sale, but an actual price change. went from $36.95 down to $28.95.
their reasoning was "lower prices gets more customers, so we make more money"

That's screwed up. I hate dealing with companies who will not accept responsibility for their actions.

Yeah, it costs $5 more per oil change, but this is why I have my oil changed at the Ford dealer.
