Here I am

Hi everyone. New to this forum, of course. My name is Mark and I live in East Tennessee. I own a 2000 Ranger XLT, extended cab 4x4, 4.0 OHV Engine, which I have learned a lot about in the past month LOL. One of the bolts on the #1 connecting rod broke the week of Thanksgiving. Not sure why this happened. About Octoberish the Oil gauge bottomed out but the engine still sounded normal so it had to be getting oiled, but now I wonder. Oh well, it's getting a basic overhaul now. Luckily only the crank is damaged; the block and cylinder walls appear to be OK. Any suggestions or threads I should check out? Also where's a good place to order connecting rods and other parts? Thanks everyone.

Mark.

Yeah not sure if it broke initially or as a result of the other one coming off. The nut on the other bolt was completely off and in the bottom of the pan. The engine has 104k miles on it and has never been opened up before now. The crank is gouged and I will be replacing it, but the cylinder walls look good. I've actually enjoyed tearing into it. I've never been this far into an engine before, with the exception of a lawn mower engine I rebuilt in middle school LOL. Since this is my first overhaul I wouldn't mind some "Lessons Learned" from anyone. Any way to upload pics?
