Just got a 2007 Ranger double cab 4X4 with 2.8 liter turbo diesel. Thought I would join here to learn more about the truck. Mine was made in Argentina I understand the new ones are made in South Africa now. I see quite a few on the roads here. The back roads here are gravel or worse. I will most likely read a lot of suspension threads. I know very little about torsion bars. My ride height is off by an inch in the front.

The North American(NA) style Rangers were made in Argentina for the Latin American markets starting in 1996 and outside of the Diesel engine options were very similar to those sold in US and Canada.
Starting in 2004 there was a 4 door version offered in Latin American version, 4 FULL doors, we never had those here.
In 2010 they switch to International Ranger design(BT-50/T6), larger and wider than our version, closer to F-150 than Ranger

Your 2007 will have many similarities to our NA Rangers but there will be differences.
The 2.8l is made in Brazil, a 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine, called an HS 2.8l powerstroke.
We never had that engine so won't be much help there.

 

That is good info. Mine has 4 full doors. You do not see many 2 door pickups here. If they are lucky enough to be able to afford a vehicle they try to be able to carry the family and do work both. I have had several problems since I got it. A aftermarket alarm that I was not aware of is giving me fits. I have about reached the end of my knowledge trying to get it out of the truck. Now my 4x4 does not work. Fuses are good so I guess I did something I should not have done. Only 1 dealer in CR 5 hours away.

2007 should have "live axles" up front, so no locking/unlocking hubs, which is good, those "auto" hubs only worked for a few years new, then they were a pain in the backside.

So you really only have the electric shift motor and its control module.
Shift motor can get dirty and finicky, tap it a few times with a hammer and see if it starts to shift into 4WD again.
These can be removed and cleaned.

Module will have 4X4CM in large letters on it, on ours it can be on the back wall of the cab but not sure on yours.

This can be installed in place of the electric shift motor, for manual operation.
But you do have to get under the vehicle to use it so.............

 

My module is directly behind the rotary switch in the dash. It all worked great till I started pulling out the old alarm system that I did not install. I spent 5 hours today trying to figure out what caused it but no luck. The switch has power on 1 pin but if I do a resistance check on the switch pins nothing changes when I change the switch. I don't have a clue how to test the control module. I use it quite a bit here. You know how a lite reared truck is you can get stuck on wet grass and there is a LOT of it in Costa Rica.

If you can find the alarm module maybe you can get a name or model number and get the installation manual on-line, then see what wires they may have spliced into.
4WD should be one of those, lol, but..........you never know
