Shane made me do it...
Hey guys.. New here, but not to the Ranger scene or the Ranger websites/forums.. There's a sh*t ton of the forums it seems like..
Anyway, Shane threatened my life if I didn't create an introduction thread and ***** my truck a little.. His big twuck and big tawk scare GB so here goes it.....
The name's GB. Or Bird. Either way. I'm probably the oldest f*ck on here. I'm pretty sure bout that. Don't really care. I live in Illinois obviously, in the middle of the corn. Unmarried with no kids so I do what I please with my toys, etc..
Well, here's the newest Ranger the day I went to go get her in Ohio..
I paid $7000 out the door for her.. I think I did alright considering it was "sort of" a special order truck.. Having the 4.0, 4x4, L/S rear w/ 4:10's, in a regular cab.. EXACTLY what I'd been looking for..
Then I found this in the original paperwork booklet. I was quite happy to find it.. Cleared up some of the mystery on the craptastic MPG for me...
My next step was to put on my signature BIG *** LIGHTS all over the front of it. That's been my call sign around these parts for years. Plus it saves my trucks from all the suicidal bloodthirsty deer around here...
I also added the window wind deflector things.. I got the "offroad" version because I've had problems with the "in channel" design coming loose in my 89 Ranger.. These stick on the outside of the door.
Then I went and bought a set of these and some Mud Trac radials for her..
DISCLAIMER - I LOVE the DC-1 wheels. No one around here has a Ranger with them or any vehicle with them for that matter. So if you hate em I don't really need to know your opinion on that part.. Umkay? Good.
Here's how she sits currently. Except for the fact that I cranked the torsion bars after installing the wheels/tires. The 31" x 10.50" x 15" rubbed the mud flaps on the inside. I ended up relocating the mud flap support bar farther back by unbolting it and drilling new holes farther back and refastening with sheetmetal screws. No more rub..
Keep in mind that it does sit a little higher than this now, but not much. I didn't wanna go crazy cranking the bars until I get some heavier ones..

It's all I'll ever use on this truck. I love it. The black rubbing compound made a HUGE difference with an orbital buffer. Then the black pigmented wax helped even more. DO NOT use the detailer to remove the wax like the instructions say to. It makes it horrible to remove. Of course it's gonna stain your hands man...
I tried the Meguirs NXT stuff and it was washed off in just a few days.. Plus it was kinda of "greasy" to remove. Like no matter how much I rubbed there was still a smeary looking fine layer on the truck. It took forever to remove. I was pissed I even bought that stuff..
