new member in search of my perfect ranger

Hi All, I am shopping for a used ranger in the baltimore area. I have 4k total to spend- so I think I am looking in the '99-'03 range with probably around 100k on it. ideal would be 4 cyl, manual trans, regular cab, 2x4.

what I am trying to figure out is how to understand the price/value equation with used rangers... kelly blue book gives a 02 in excellent condition a price of $2300..I don't see one anywhere for less then $4500...are people just being greedy? also- I see trucks listed with 200k on them selling for three and four and five grand- are they really going to get that? and in general how many miles are too many miles given I am hoping to commute and depend on this car for the next few years...?

any advice or leads welcome- josh at j.inmotion@gmail.com
thanks

In my area it's like that as well, small trucks are priced higher because demand is high.... That being said, there are great deals out there if you are patient. I'd say 100k miles is a good place to start looking. Just inquire on the maintenance done

Patience is the key when searching for a used vehicle. If you wait long enough, you will find the right truck.

That being said, some people figure value differently. Some guys think sentimental value = market value

Got some links to trucks you've looked at?
