New from Ontario
Hi everyone. Obviously I am new to these forums. This is not my first Ranger. Actually had one back in 85 but got hit head on by a Harley which totalled the truck. Harley was back on the road in two weeks.
But on with the new one. I have kind of received a 96 Ranger Splash from my son. Let's just say, he drove it for many years and really didn't do any maintenance on it and now has abondoned it in my driveway. All in all, it's not a bad truck. I figure about $2k or less, could get it mechanically sound again. It has a 3 litre V6 with a 5 speed manual trans. Not a bad start, but the windshield is cracked, needs 4 ball joints, tires, and some TLC around head lights and grill area as the headlights are fastened in with wooden shims, and a new oil pan which seems to be corroding through from rust causing a small leak. Once the weather gets warmer, I will pull out the bench seat and thoughly steam clean the carpet and the seats to make them look fresh again and try to make some kind of latch for the arm rest box to keep it closed.
It has two sets of rims, one chrome and one black steel for snows. And a really nice matching cap which has been at my cotttage for a couple of years now. A decent aftermarket stereo and it drives pretty good except for the front end issue. So it has the makings of a good project truck.
So here is the big question. I am in the GTA region, to the east. Does anyone know of any junkyards that have a good stock of Ranger parts? And also, is there an on line service manual link that anyone knows of?

Welcome to RF Ken. Yet ANOTHER Ontarian. Haha we're multiplying like flies.
As for wreckers, try Dom's Auto Wreckers (out your neck of the woods), Cookstown Auto, Mike's Auto Parts (Hamilton), North Queen Auto (Etobicoke). Those are some of the biggest ones around.
If you're interested, we are having an RF meet in Brampton on April 4 at Formula Kartways and going for chinese buffet.

I'm fairly new as well, just got my first Ranger (An '02) back in Jan.
Here's the link I use to find parts in wrecking yards:
http://www.car-part.com/
Just enter the info you need, and it'll show you all those parts, starting with the closest.

www.partrequest.com ...if that doesnt work, it's www.part-request.com .. for a small finder's fee, they will locate your parts from wreckers across Canada and the US. The yard with the part will contact you with a price and yuo can buy it and they will ship it.
I did that for a fog light assembly for my truck. Found one in Philadelphia and they shipped it to me in 3 days.
