New from VA
Been lurking for a bit, decided to sign up, and introduce myself. I don't own a Ranger (yet?) As my current DD comes to the end of it's life and I slowly work my way out of some student debt I find myself searching more and more for a replacement. I have narrowed it down to wanting a mid-size truck (Tacoma, Frontier, Ranger, Dakota etc). I think this because I don't do any major hauling (not throwing steel I-beams in the back), but it would be nice to have a truck for moving things, and my frequent beach trips etc.
I am leaning towards the Ranger mostly because I already own a 2005 4.0L Mustang on 12 lbs. boost so I feel I would be at least somewhat familiar with the inner workings of the engine if nothing else. I am also very partial to Ford because they are both an American manufacturer, and they did not use Federal TARP funds to stay afloat. More specifically I really have my eye on the FX4 package from around the 2004-2006 range. Even more specifically when it comes time to picking, I'd like to wait for one with the Level II options. I would LIKE a truck that is ready to have some fun on the beach/light trails without TOO much modification, but this isn't a necessity. Obviously I catch the mod fever pretty quick, but I'd like to channel most of that into the Mustang.
This would be my first truck, so I am busy learning about the mods, suspensions, the differences in the 4-wheel drivetrains etc.
As far as daily driving, hoping everything works out I should have a much shorter commute then I have now, and it would be mostly highway, so nothing too big there requirements wise. Comfort of interior I guess.
Anyways I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, I do IT work for a living. I serve in the Virginia Army National Guard, other than that I am a pretty regular guy. No family of my own or anything, so no quad-cab requirement :).
I joined even though I am not going to contribute much unless I actually pick one and purchase it, but you guys have some great info on here, and I hope to keep doing my research and this way I can now post questions I have.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys have to say, and possibly being a Ranger owner sometime in the future!
