No its an efi setup the carb engines did not have a pump in the tank. Yes you should be able to hear the intank pump run its not very loud but deff loud enough to hear.

can I run hot wires to the tank pump and if it runs then I may have a wiring prob?..Are there any other s.ending units or electrical relays or whatever other then the one under the hood passenger side fender..? I had it started last week after sitting for about a year. it ran rough for awhile didnt drive it on the road no tags or insurance..I started it for a couple of days after that just to keep it fresh. then one day it just didnt start. Thought maybe I ran it out of gas..ie bad gauge or something..I put more gas in it and still didnt start..It has new battery, starter, external fuel pump. What is the black bulb in line between two pumps..fuel filter?..there is no filter in it..maybe somebody left it out. Can that housing stop working? there are little valves in it.. parts store said they dont carry it have to order from ford if they even make it anymore..I just dont know why it started before and now it wont..

ITS ALIVE.....ITS ALIVE.....It started and ran and was sluggish, but got better as I drove it. Probably 30 miles on it. In a bunch of small circles...LOL. I changed the fuel filter but I dont think that was it. I still didnt hear the pumps come on so I wanted to test if it had power to the one I replaced. I put leads on it and my buddy turned the key..and the stupid pump came on. Then it tried to start. We were messing in relay area before that, because we heard clicking. I have one new one so I was moving it to the three possible positions.(didnt know which one, it fit all three). Anyways, its running thank god. It was this forum that gave me the good luck. Thanks

I was thinking I might want to to do that at some point. How involved is it? Is there a kit you buy for mounting? Can a novice do it?
