Hello all,
I am prior service military (veteran) and served during OIF, OEF, ONE and GWOT. Trained in weapons, demolitions and security. Spent my tour overseas doing Force Protection, Anti-Terrorism, Vulnerability Assessment and Mobile Security (VBSS). Got out a few years ago and have been consulting ever since.
I own a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L V6 4x4 with only 92,000 miles, completely stock. Looking to upgrade a few things here and there, considering suspension upgrade, sway bars, rims/tires, etc...
With brand new shocks all around, would I be able to fit 16 inch rims and 33 inch tires on the truck without having to get it lifted? Would a set of new fender flares work things out, or do I really need a lift kit? If that is the case, what would you recommend (suspension or body)...or even replacing leaf springs? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks so much in advance.

edgeman4.0 and BCobe, considering the way that my truck is set up now (completely stock) and in the condition it is in (1993 in good shape overall, rusted underneath though from the truck sitting in NJ for a few years); do you think any unforeseen issues may arise when installing the suspension lift kit? Also, if I do that...are sway bars, control arms and traction bars necessary to increase stability?
If it is going to turn into an endless project and a ton of money than I'll just replace the suspension with an upgrade, no lift or rims...just put 31x10.5/R15 Pro Comp mud tires on the stock wheels and call it a day.
