Glassstarfish Intro

Looking forward to having some other Ford people to talk with.I am 49,Live in the Bathtub Race capitol of the world.Nanaimo ,Vancouver Island,British Columbia ,Canada.I have a little 1984 Ford Ranger ,that a previous owner put an 8Cyl into.Last summer I had to change the Rad,Flushed the heater core, and it went anyways.Three weeks ago The water pump went and I changed that,Then I tracked down a heater core a week & a half ago ,picked it up,Learned how to take the dash apart(& put it back together)(OKAY<OKAY I have to take out the last two pieces and put them back in ,in the opposite order so they fit better, & there are a few extra screws). I have worked in the commercial Fishing Industry for 25 years.Tried a go at Stain Glass as a Business and couldn't pay the bills with all the raves and compliments,so went back to fishing.(Which is near next to as destitute by the way it has been segregated & managed now. I live a very private & fair isolated life as I am seldom around home much,so when I am I have all kinds of things to catch up on ,don't have time for being social. My grown up daughter says " I Remember "Spending Quality Time with Mom is a Four Letter Word**WORK**")Love my little truck,'n just trying to get it running after the ***Latest***. Thanks in advance to any one that may be able to help and guide me a little when I pose my Dilemma.

Thanks for the come back,a little Tech Dino, not sure what a thread is,not sure how, where to click on to describe the problem, and what I need to know to fix it.Pictures of the truck/how about word pictures today,It was red,Not fond of red vehicles ,drove it that way for years, gave it a light sanding ,a little body filler on a wheelwell, sprayed it with a little gray primer, then spray bombed it with Martha Stewart pale apple green, replaced the hood with a chocolate brown one ,and the box liner (Hiding the red paint) is black plastic. So where do I need to go to bare my trespasses(What broke,What I did FIXING it**including the mistake I made**,how I have done penance getting it to the point I have ,which appears 95%,however there is something seriously out of whack.'n Whats the difference on the post quick reply and the go advanced? glassstarfish

Well this is a thread that we are in. Look under the forums link to find what each topic is for each group of threads. I believe there is a V8 thread group so click there and then post all your questions. As far as quick reply and go advanced...quick reply is all you need for 99% of posting. It will send you to the go advanced posting if you quote someone or want more options for posting.

Just stick with quick reply for now.

Glassstarfish Dillema

Thank you,I am hoping,Not sure if this how to do this,I am guessing on this computer stuff (Bear with me if I make mistakes,I am going to explain here, and try the go advanced after.)The signal mechanism on the column had started to go.As in hold the lever over to turn one direction .So I knew it was on its way.I spent a few hours each day for three days getting the dash out and the old heater core out. Then the 4th day putting the new one in and re assembling the dash.Tired and to Celebrate I drove(With the LUXURY) of HEAT & DEFROST in the truck up to Tim Horton's For a bowl of Chili Combo. It was getting dark when I got there. When I left as I Turned out of the parking area the signal switch mechanism packed it in. I tried tiddling with it to get a signal,no signal, the horn went off ,high beams engaged.I stopped at the lights in the inside turn lane ,tiddled the lever again ,horn went off ,high beams engaged,The light changed,I carried on ,over the bridge, wanting to move over to the outside lane,One vehicle that had come down behind me as I left T.H's,parking, and all of a sudden the pretty red & blue lights are going off behind me , No other traffic around so I vear over to the right, and exit onto a business parking area. Its the Queen's Cowboys. Then I learned the Brake light function is tied into the signal light mechanism as well.Yah it needs to be fixed...So Saturday morning I call the Ford Dealership to order the part,It will be in Tuesday afternoon .Tues its in at 4pm at the dealership in the next town up the island approx.45 min drive and the close in an hour.I ordered it from the ford dealership Name I recognized from years ago.which was not the one in town .So I arrange to borrow a girlfriends car to drive up to get the part the next morning. So now we are on day 9 of no vehicle ,I get home with the part open the box look at it and go take the cover off the steering column.Take out the two screws holding the signal mechanism to the column, note that I guess they make the new parts without the plastic modules on them now, (Tried wigglinThem out a bit) then took a screw driver and pried each connection out and tried snapping it on to each post, one at a time, learned you have to compress them again and there is a side tab/lock(HAHA) and too many compresses/locks and the bluddy cheap aluminium simply falls apart.& when they don,t lock on tab & more than one come off ,memory goes out too.(NEXT TIME TAKE PICTURES).So since then a week ago today now( day 16 with no vehicle on the road.) Seven Times By process of Elimination as the manuel(HAYNES) that I picked up does not have a wire Color code and multi function switch Tab identifier schematic, for the 7th time I have achieved a signal light, and brake lights functioning on both sides of the vehicle as per the activation by brake pedal and signal lever ,Head lights operating when the headlight switch is pulled out into the ON position, and Hi beam activated from the signal lever. However,I have been unable to get the emerg (4 WAY) flashers to work, and The truck With Fully charged Battery, and all cable ends changed on battery connectionsTop side,Has a strong Ignite /Start response.and Just Dies.Cuts Out. Something is Not allowing it to Keep spark, Its like the fuel has been absolutely shut off .Will not run .(Has to be tied into the signal switch Mechanism (MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH) So I am wondering If ANY one out there can get a picture or draw a picture of the color code of the two small wire harness that each run to the upper module posts, and the lower module..As in Even a clear word description like The double white wire with a blue stripe goes to the lowest outside post/or inside post on the lower module..Any body able to help on this one?
